The Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) digital team has triggered widespread online attention, with Kenyans intensifying speculation about the identity of the account administrator.
This is after its @KRACare account responded to a random Kenyan’s job announcement post, setting off widespread memes and commentary.
The post, shared by X user @2353claus as he celebrated being employed and referenced plans to purchase an affordable car, was met with the authority’s sarcastic congratulations.
“My unemployment era has come to an end. How much does the Mazda Axela go for?” he posted.
In their response, KRA replied with a brief “Congratulations”, attracting thousands of engagements before KRA’s reply hours later drew even greater attention.
KRA Reply Sparks Questions On Who Runs the Account
Online users quickly turned the response into humour, suggesting the authority was now monitoring a “new taxpayer,” with memes depicting officials waiting to enforce compliance.
“KRA has a new client,” Cornelius Ronoh shared.
Other Kenyans sparked a conversation about the personality behind the account, with some speculating that it must be Gen Z.
“Admin should be served with a tea bag and milk, lmao. Whoever is running this account has given it an interesting outlook,” @ Z3IT3IGIST noted.
“This account is definitely being run by a 20-something-year-old,” another user added.
Kenya Revenue-Kenyan Prince Exchange
The Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) publicly addressed the source of wealth of Kenyan Prince, a known content creator and alleged Forex trader, after he shared a video showing large stacks of cash.
Kenyan Prince’s shared video prompted KRA to sarcastically question the origins of the funds in a post on X using Swahili slang to suggest possible illicit sources.
“Hi Kenyan Prince, uliomba ukiface wapi aki, ni mbaya,” KRA wrote.
Kenyan Prince, a self-described forex trader and aspiring politician, responded lightheartedly, turning the interaction into a message promoting legitimate business.

“Now you realise you have started a real hustle, let’s work hard,” he replied.

Crackdown on Tax Cheats Filing Nil Returns
KRA has intensified its enforcement efforts by going after Kenyans filing nil returns despite having income.
The latest crackdown follows the KRA’s reinstatement of the filing of nil returns, which had been suspended to ensure tax compliance in the country.
Through eTIMS, the Authority has identified undeclared transaction earnings from individuals.

In a message sent to a user believed to have evaded tax, the authority revealed via eTIMS that transactions were recorded in 2025, despite the user filing nil returns for 2024.
“Dear (USER), Our records indicate that while you filed a Nil Income Tax Return for 2024, you earned income in 2025 as evidenced by your eTIMS transmissions,” read the message.
The authority has also advised the individual to log in to the iTax portal, file the pre-populated 2025 tax return, and pay any outstanding tax.
“Consequently, your pre-populated 2025 Income Tax Return is ready for filing. Please log in to iTax to file your return and pay any tax due,” stated the Kenya Revenue Authority
