Thousands of students seeking university placement can now plan their applications after Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS) updated degree cut-off points ahead of the 2026 intake.

A spot check by The Kenya Times on the KUCCPS portal showed that the placement service has updated cut-off points, with a majority of courses seeing an increase.

Cut-off points represent the cluster weight of the last applicant placed in a merit-based program.

KUCCPS Updates Degree Cut-Off Points Ahead of 2026 Applications

These points are determined by the applicants’ performance for a degree course and the number of students a university can admit to that course.

During the placement process, applicants are arranged in descending order, from the highest to the lowest cluster weight.

The available slots are filled in this order until the last student is placed. The cluster weight of this last student becomes the cut-off point for that program.

It’s important to note that this process is automated, and KUCCPS cannot predetermine the cut-off points.
