President William Ruto on Monday, May 20, arrived in the United States of America for his three-day state visit.
Ruto arrived at the Hartsfield Jackson Atlanta International Airport accompanied by First Lady Mama Rachel Ruto and a host of other leaders.
The president’s plane touched down at the airport at 9.45 am US time and was welcomed by top dignitaries, including US Ambassador to Kenya Meg Whitman.
Local media houses sent their top news anchors and reporters to cover Ruto’s visit which is the first state visit by a Kenyan head of state in two decades and the first by an African head of state since 2008.

Journalists Who Accompanied Ruto
Citizen TV anchor Ayub Abdikadir reported live from Atlanta, Georgia, covering President Ruto’s arrival and first day in the US.
Multimedia journalist and Media consultant Steve Shitera is also part of the Royal Media Services (RMS) crew that is currently in the US.
Senior anchor and reporter George Maringa from TV47 broadcasted Ruto’s visit and activities on his first day directly from the United States.
Maringa posted a video of Ruto’s motorcade and reported for the 9pm news with footage from Dr. Martin Luther King Centre and the Freedom Hall.
Likewise, NTV reporter Brygettes Ngana also traveled to the US to cover Ruto’s visit on behalf of the Nation Media Group (NMG). She featured in NTV’s 9 pm news bulletin on Monday, May 20, providing live footage and reports from Atlanta.
Taking to her X account, Ngana posted a video she took at the Dr. Martin Luther King Centre where the president visited and even posted a video with former American basketballers Shaquille O’Neal (SHAQ).
“Good evening, from the Dr. Martin Luther King Centre. I met SHAQ, he said hi. This girl from Nakuru, Kenya can now rest easy. Let’s do this again on Tuesday,” Ngana said.
Additionally, The Star newspaper published photos taken by Nancy Agutu, the deputy digital editor of Radio Africa Group.

Other Leaders Acompanying Ruto
The president was accompanied by a host of dignitaries including Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi, Defence CS Aden Duale, Trade CS Rebecca Miano and Health CS Susan Nakhumicha.
Council of Governors Chair Anne Waiguru, Homa Bay Governor Gladys Wanga and her Machakos counterpart Wavinya Ndeti are also part of the team in the US.
Other leaders are, Senate Majority leader Aaron Cheruiyot, National Assembly Majority leader Kimani Ichung’wah and National Security Advisor Monica Juma.
Foreign PS Roseline Njogu and Digital Strategist Dennis Itumbi are also among the dignitaries present.

Private Sector
The president was also flanked by officials from the private sector including Safaricom Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Peter Ndegwa and Founder of Wazawazi Chebet Mutai.
The others are Wandia Gichuru, founder of Vivo Fashion Group and Kenya Medical Research Institute (KEMRI) CEO and Director-General Elijah Songok.
