Lugulu Girls High School in Bungoma has registered outstanding results in the 2024 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) exams after the Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC) released their withheld results.
672 out of 676 candidates secured C+ and above, qualifying them for university entry.
The school’s Principal, Dinah Cheruiyot, stated that Lugulu Girls posted an impressive 9.3417 mean score compared to 9.3306 in 2023.
“We thank God because we have waited for our results for a very long time, almost two weeks,” she said.
“We had sleepless nights, but finally, as a school, we received our results yesterday, and the girls have done very well.”
Lugulu Girls Sends 672 Students to University, Only Four Miss Out
Jubilation and celebration filled the air this morning as students took to the streets of Webuye town, proudly waving the national and school flags, their joyous mood reflecting their hard-earned success.

Lugulu girls had a total of 13 students achieving an A plain out of the 1,693 recorded nationwide.
The school recorded 93 students with an A-, 191 with a B+, and 232 with a B.
In addition, 118 students attained a B-, while 25 students scored a C+.
Only four candidates scored below the C+ grade. A small number of students had lower grades, with one scoring a C, one receiving a C-, and two others obtaining a D+.
National School’s Results Withheld
Panic had gripped parents and students of Lugulu Girls High School when KNEC withheld the grades, shortly after the government announced the release of the 2024 KCSE results on January 9.
The national school’s candidates were among the 2,829 whose results were withheld, with CS Ogamba stating that the results were held due to suspicions of exam irregularities.
The suspension was pending the completion of an investigation, which was expected to take 30 days.

Lugulu Girls School’s management, on its part, appealed to the candidates who sat the examinations and their parents to remain patient as the school pursued the release of its results through the official appeal channels with the Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC).
“Dear Parent/Guardian, we are aware that your child has not yet received their examination results. Please rest assured that the matter is being addressed, and the results will be made available to you in due course. Further communication will follow,” read a letter signed by the school principal Dinah Cheruiyot addressed to parents and guardians of the school.
Other schools whose 2024 KCSE results were withheld due to suspected examination irregularities included St. Peter’s Abwao Secondary School in Migori, Mama Malia Academy, and Katilu Boys High School in Turkana County.
Mama Malia Academy, a private girls’ secondary school located in Tseikuru, Kitui County, is run by Wiper Party Leader Kalonzo Musyoka’s Foundation.
