After days of anxiety and uncertainty, the Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC) has released the 2024 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) results for Lugulu Girls High School.
This followed days of suspense after KNEC withheld their results after Education Cabinet Secretary Julius Ogamba officially announced the release of the national results for all the candidates who sat the national examinations.
Lugulu Girls High School candidates were among the 2,829 KCSE 2024 candidates whose results were withheld, with CS Ogamba stating that they were withheld due to suspicions of exam irregularities, pending the completion of an investigation within 30 days.
However, the serene compound of the Western Kenya-based national school on Friday, January 18, erupted into jubilation as the school’s students poured into the open grounds to celebrate the release of the results by KNEC.
In videos seen by The Kenya Times, the air was thick with the sounds of ululation, while waves of emotion swept through the crowd as many struggled to hold back tears of joy.
Additionally, news of the candidates’ sterling performance spread quickly, with Kenyans online taking pride in the impressive achievements of various students.

The Kenya Times conducted a fact-check by verifying the results of one candidate through the KNEC portal, confirming the release of the results.
However, reports have emerged that all Music subject results for Lugulu Girls were canceled and graded “Y”.
Sources indicate that the cancellation may be related to alleged irregularities, though the school’s management and KNEC have yet to release an official statement.

While confirming that the results for the Lugulu Girls were withheld, Western Region Director of Education Jared Obiero said that they will be out soon.
Obiero explained that the withholding of the results means that they are being reviewed and have not yet been approved or rejected.
“The results were pended, and we are sorting out the matter. Let there be no cause of alarm. The results will be out soon,” said Obiero.
Lugulu Girls School’s management on its part appealed to candidates who sat the examinations and their parents to be patient as the school pursues its results through the official appeal channels with the council.
“Dear Parent/Guardian, we are aware that your child has not yet received their examination results. Please rest assured that the matter is being addressed, and the results will be made available to you in due time. Further communication will follow,” read a letter signed by the school principal Dinah Cheruiyot addressed to parents and guardians of the school.

Mama Malia Academy is a private girls’ secondary school based at Tseikuru, Kitui County ran by Wiper party leader Kalonzo Musyoka’s Foundation.
