Former United Democratic Alliance (UDA) Secretary General Cleophas Malala has alleged the names of the Members of Parliament (MP) who will table an impeachment motion against Deputy President (DP) Rigathi Gachagua.
Speaking in Kiambu County, on Sunday, September 22, Malala accused Suna East MP Junet Mohamed and his Homabay Town counterpart Peter Kaluma of plotting the motion before the floor of the House.
Malala urged President William Ruto to tame the said MPs warning him that the move to impeach Gachagua will work against his popularity in the upcoming 2027 general elections.
“I have been informed that the MPs being fronted to table the impeachment motion against Gachagua are Junet Mohamed and Peter Kaluma. I’m telling you, Mr. President, those MPs will start by impeaching Gachagua, then they will turn against you in 2027, ” Malala advised.

“I want to address my party leader with the utmost respect. I may not be qualified to advise you, Mr. President, but it is your choice to listen to me or not. The people you’re trying to use to impeach the Deputy President, who stood by you during the 2022 general election campaign, will cost you the presidency in 2027.”
Malala further pleaded with the President to call his house to order and remember the tribulations Gachagua went through during Uhuru’s administration to help him secure the presidency.

“Don’t punish Rigathi Gachagua. He was humiliated before his family because of supporting you. I am pleading with you don’t be inhumane, “Malala urged the President.
At the same time, leaders who were part of the congregation shared similar sentiments with the former UDA secretary-general.
Other leaders’ sentiments besides Malala’s
For her part, former Laikipia Woman Representative Kate Waruguru implied that the president brought his former rival, Raila Odinga, into the broad-based government to destabilize Kenya Kwanza.
She further alleged the move by the president to award Odinga’s allies several positions in his government was to try and oust Gachagua from the Kenya Kwanza government.
Kiambu Senator, Karungo Wa Thang’wa told the congregants that if the impeachment motion reaches the floor of the National Assembly, he will conclude that President Ruto is behind it because he has the power to reject certain issues before they reach parliament.

He further said that impeaching Gachagua would be a betrayal to the electorate who Gachagua rallied to support Ruto’s presidency.
On his part, Gachagua remarked that there is still room for the President to call his house to order and talk to everybody so that in turn they can serve their roles to the citizens effectively.
