The Nairobi Hospital has declared the position of Finance Director in the hospital, previously held by Eric Maigo vacant.
In a notice published on Friday, December 15, the Hospital invited applications for the position from qualified persons.
Furthermore, the Nairobi Hospital declared vacancies in the positions of Director of Human Resources and that of the Hospitals’ Chief Engineer vacant.
To apply, interested persons were asked to send their credentials, CV and resume, to the company via its website by latest December 29.
According to the notice on the job vacancies, the main responsibility of a Finance Director is to provide strategic leadership and management oversight in the finance division.
This, the hospital noted, should help to ensure effective business and financial planning.
In addition, the hospital noted that the Finance Director will be tasked with developing and implementing a finance strategy, oversee day-to-day operations in the finance division, and any other responsibility assigned to the holder.
Qualifications for the job
To qualify for the position, Nairobi Hospital noted that a candidate must have a master’s degree in business administration, Finance, Accounting, or any other business-related field.
In addition, the candidate should have a bachelor’s degree in any business-related field and be a member of relevant professional qualification body including the Certified Public Accountant (CPA).
Further, the candidate should have a minimum of 12 years’ experience in audit or financial management gained from financial management gained in a high growth organization with 7 years at senior management level.
Upon application, the Nairobi Hospital will contact successful candidates for further instructions.
The Finance Director post fell vacant in September 2023 when Eric Maigo, the hospital’s former Acting Finance Director died under mysterious circumstances.
After an eventful day at work on September 14 as described by the Hospital’s CEO James Nyamongo, the youthful finance expert was found dead inside his home in Nairobi’s Woodley Estate.
Police reports indicated that Maigo succumbed to stab injuries with the postmortem indicating that the deceased had 25 stab wounds on his body.

Speaking in a media interview, CEO Nyamongo described Maigo as a dedicated staffer noting that he was one of the best staff members to have worked with.

On the day before his demise, the CEO explained, the Hospital’s top management was in a meeting where Maigo reportedly made a superb presentation.
After the meeting, Maigo and the CEO were scheduled to hold a follow up meeting oblivious that the daytime meeting was the last contact they would have.
“I was the last person on that Thursday, September 14, and I interacted with him during the Board’s Finance and Investment Committee, the CEO said.
“He made a very good presentation.”

Meanwhile, the case about his killing is still active with the prosecution side probing a lady placed in the scene by a CCTV footage.
When arraigned in court, the suspect initially pleaded guilty on the first presentation.
However, Justice Kavedza Mochache who was handling the case granted her another opportunity of taking plea in light of the magnitude of the charges before her.
Days after her first pleading, the suspect pleaded not guilty before the same court.
