Nairobi Hospital Chief Executive Officer James Nyamongo on Tuesday, September 26, revealed the last moments of Eric Maigo, the hospital’s former Finance Director.
Speaking in an interview on Citizen TV, the CEO noted that he was among the last persons to have interacted with Maigo before he met his unprecedented death on September 14.
Nyamongo revealed that he had attended a meeting in the hospital’s Finance and Investment committee of which Maigo was a member.
The CEO went on to note that the meeting was eventful and that his team made a “good” presentation.
After the meeting, the CEO had planned to meet Maigo the following day, oblivious that the meeting was Maigo’s last moments in the hospital.
“I was the last person who had interacted with him during the Finance and Investment Committee,” the CEO explained.
“We had made a good presentation. Then we were to meet the following day and it was really disheartening.”
Maigo was competent
In terms of the relationship between Maigo and other staff members, the CEO described him as diligent and one of the best staffers to have worked with.

He revealed that he was part of the team that recruited Maigo and that his death had dealt the hospital a major blow.
Additionally, the CEO stated that counselors have stepped in to help the hospital’s staff cope with the reality.
“This has been a very difficult moment for the family of Nairobi Hospital and the institution as a whole. We are saddened by the murder of this gentleman who is one of the best staff I have ever worked with.”
The CEO’s revelations came amid intensified efforts by security agencies to establish the motive and culprits behind the gruesome murder.
Maigo, who was until his death serving as the Finance Director at the Nairobi Hospital, was found dead in his Nairobi home with multiple stab wounds.

Probe into Eric Maigo Murder
Investigations established that Maigo had been seen entering his home’s compound in the company of a woman.
Upon investigations and help from intelligence reports, the Directorate of Criminal Investigations announced a breakthrough in unraveling the cause of his death on September 21 after establishing the identity of a key suspect.
Later on, September 26, the police arrested the said woman in Kibera Slums, Nairobi.
“The suspect who detectives have established is a juvenile aged 16, was arrested at Olympic village in the sprawling Kibera slums last night, after sleuths received information regarding her whereabouts,” a statement from the DCI read in part.
