Nairobi City Water and Sewerage Company has announced a planned temporary interruption of water supply affecting several parts of the capital.
In a statement dated June 15 2026, the utility provider said the disruption is due to a pipe leak, which will be repaired during the period.
The disruption is expected to affect both residential estates and key commercial zones across the capital.
The interruption is scheduled to begin on Monday, June 15, 2026, at 10pm and is expected to last until Tuesday, June 16, 2026, at midday.
Nairobi Water Announces Planned Shutdown Due to Pipeline Leak
According to Nairobi Water, the disruption is due to a leak in the NCT-Kigoro-Gigiri-Kabete transmission pipeline in Gatundu, which supplies water to several areas in and around Nairobi.

“This is to inform you of a temporary water supply interruption that will affect several residential and commercial areas in the City. The interruption is due to a leakage on NCT-Kigoro-Gigiri-Kabete transmission pipeline at Gatundu. The shut down shall take place from 10pm Monday 15th June, 2026 to Tuesday 16th June, 2026 at Midday,” the statement read.
Areas Affected Across Nairobi City
The water interruption will affect several neighborhoods across Nairobi, covering both residential estates and commercial districts.
The affected areas include:
- Westlands and its environs
- Lavington
- Kilimani
- Upper Hill
- Ngong Road
- Madaraka
- Langata
- Kibera
- Karen
- Uthiru
- Kawangware
- Kangemi
In addition to these estates, customers served by MAVWASCO and Oloolaiser Water Company are also expected to experience disruptions in the stated period.
Repair Timeline and Customer Advisory
The water interruption is scheduled to begin on June 15, 2026, at 10 pm and is expected to last until Tuesday, June 16, 2026, at midday, lasting for 14 hours.

Customers who have moved houses but continue receiving water bill SMS notifications can remove their phone number from the previous account using the following steps provided;
- Dial *260# on your mobile phone.
- Select 1 – Registration from the menu.
- Choose 3 – Deregister e-Bill.
- Enter the water account number linked to the previous residence.
- Submit the request to remove your number from that account’s billing alerts.
