Nduru Boys High School is a public boys’ secondary school located in Gucha South sub-county, South Mugirango constituency, in Kisii County, and is categorized as Category 2 (C2) under the new Competency-Based Education (CBE) curriculum.
The category (C2) was formerly recognized as Extra County schools.
In 2024, the school recorded a mean grade of 7.0 (C+) in the examinations, with 147 students attaining direct university entry, marking an improvement from their 2023 KCSE performance.
In extracurricular activities, the school was crowned the Kisii County 7s Rugby champions in 2023, representing the county at the regional level.
The school features 10 main dormitories, including Everest, Manga, Ruwenzori, Otenyo, Alpine, Mt. Kenya, Longonot, Olive, Nzaria, and Sakawa.
Nduru Boys History
The school was established in 1968 as a Harambee secondary school that initially supported a single stream class form before expanding to three streams by 2006 and later to five streams.
The streams are East, West, North, South, and Meridian.

Nduru Boys is renowned for producing notable alumni like the former South Mugirango MP Omingo Magara, and for being a breeding ground for local footballers like Henry Nyandoro and Peter Makoyocyo in the 1980s and 90s.
In late 2025, the school was slated to receive significant funding, reportedly up to KSh 100 million, to boost its infrastructure and modernize its facilities.
 Performance Over the Years
Nduru Boys has been undergoing a performance recovery after a period of lower scores.
Between 2019 and 2020, the school began its upward climb, with mean scores rising from 3.36 to 3.76.
In 2023, Nduru Boys’ score reached a mean of 5.9 (C-), which was surpassed by the 2024 cohort, which set a recent peak of 7.0 (C+).
As the 2025 results are being released and the cohort is awaiting their results, the school remains firm that it will either maintain or exceed the 2024 performance.
The school is also expecting to host the first grade 10 class in 2026, under the new curriculum.
School Fees and Payment Policies
The Ministry of Education has implemented a new standardized fee structure for all public senior secondary schools in Kenya in 2026. As an extra county(C2), the standardized annual fees for boarding students in this category are set at KSh 45,054, but most public boarding schools are currently transitioning to a flat uniform rate of KSh 53,554 per year to match the former national school standards, a figure that mostly varies with extra charges for additional requirements, especially for new parents.

The school policies dictate that no unauthorized levies are allowed, as schools are strictly prohibited from charging additional fees without written approval from the Cabinet Secretary.
All payments must be made through the designated school bank accounts or official M-Pesa Pay bill numbers, and cash payments are generally not accepted.
Boards of Management (BoMs) are encouraged to allow fee payment in instalments to ensure students are not denied access to education due to financial constraints.
