The Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EAC) has arrested Ruai police station OCS Duncan Otieno for trying to sneak out four prisoners.
EACC in a statement on Saturday, November 4, stated that the officers from the commission tricked the OCS into receiving bribe for the exercise.
Notably, the OCS had accepted to receive Ksh3,000 as advanced payment to help the prisoners sneak out.
Further, the commission noted that the revelers were arrested at the Fun City Club in Utawala on November 3, 2023.
“Police officers from EACC Nairobi arrested the OCS on the allegation that he had received Ksh3,000 treated money in order to secure the release of four prisoners who were arrested on Friday, November 3,” the statement read in part.

Furthermore, EACC stated that despite the attempt by the OCS to help the suspects escape, he was arrested before he could initiate his plan.
When he accepted the advanced payment, the OCS was arrested and taken to the EACC headquarters at Ardhi House where he will be charged with extortion and bribery.
At the same time, the commission disclosed that the officer had requested Ksh5,000 in exchange for their release.
The statement indicated that the suspects had earlier been arrested for disorderliness and being drunk.

In addition, EACC noted that the suspects would be arraigned in court on November 6, and would face the law adding that they could not be prosecuted over the weekend.
By the time of his arrest, the OCS had already received Ksh25,000 in exchange for releasing revelers.
Prosecution of the OCS
Although the commission failed to detail when the OCS would be arraigned, it noted that they would continue with their investigation into the matter.
If found guilty of the charges against him, according to the Kenyan law, the OCS will be sentenced to not more than 10 years in prison or asked to pay a fine of up to Ksh5 million or both.
