Ferdinand Omanyala has stormed to victory in the men’s 100-meter race in China, clocking a season’s best 9.94 seconds at the Xiamen Diamond League meeting.
The African record holder finished ahead of South Africa’s Gift Leotlela, who came in second, while American sprinter Trayvon Bromell settled for third place.
Omanyala’s victory marks his fastest time of the season and signals a strong return to form as he continues his campaign on the international circuit.
The result places the Kenyan sprinter among the top contenders this season, as he builds momentum ahead of upcoming Diamond League meetings and other major competitions.
The race featured a competitive lineup, with several top sprinters finishing outside the podium places.
Reigning Olympic 200m champion Letsile Tebogo had a difficult outing, finishing eighth in the 10-man field. American Kenny Bednarek, who had finished second in the previous race, dropped to fourth place.
Akani Simbine, last year’s winner at the same event, finished fifth, while multiple Diamond League champion Christian Coleman crossed the line in seventh.

With improved times and renewed confidence, the Kenyan sprint star appears to be regaining top form after a difficult 2025 season, positioning himself as a key contender in upcoming international competitions.
Elsewhere at the meeting, Botswana’s Busang Collen Kebinatshipi delivered a standout performance in the men’s 400 metres, winning in a world-leading time of 43.92 seconds.
Kebinatshipi finished ahead of Zambia’s Muzala Samukonga, who placed second in 44.04, while South Africa’s Zakithi Nene came third in 44.40.
