Reports of another patient mysteriously dying while under the care of a hospital have emerged after being admitted to Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital (MTRH).
This follows a similar bizarre incident in which a patient was found dead inside a ward at the Kenyatta National Hospital.

The patient admitted to Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital was suffering from cancer.
He was admitted to the facility on December 15, 2024. After spending several days at the hospital, the patient mysteriously disappeared.

Patient Admitted at MTRH Found Dead Days Later
On January 29, police stated that on Tuesday, February 11, the Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital management reported to Naiberi Police Station that the patient had gone missing from the ward.
Following the report, police launched a search for the missing patient.

The search lasted two weeks, and on Sunday, February 9, the decomposing body of the patient was found on the banks of River Sosiani, approximately 200 meters from the Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital.
According to police, the body was discovered in civilian clothes and had been attacked by dogs.
“Homicide detectives from the Central Police Station in Eldoret visited the scene and retrieved the decomposed body on the banks of River Sosiani, dressed in civilian clothes,” said Uasin Gishu County Police Commander Benjamin Mwanthi.

Investigations are now underway to determine how the patient went missing from Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital.
Mwanthi stated that a post-mortem examination could help determine whether the patient died by suicide.
“The guards on duty must be held accountable for the security lapse surrounding this mysterious death,” said the county police chief.
Patient Found Murdered at KNH
He added that detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) are interrogating hospital staff and management in an effort to uncover the circumstances surrounding the patient’s death outside the hospital premises.
This incident comes just days after another patient was found murdered at KNH, raising concerns about patient safety in hospitals.

The patient, identified as Gilbert Kinyua, had been admitted with a rare neurological disorder. Hospital staff discovered his body during their morning rounds.
The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) is currently investigating the case.
