A police officer from the Nakuru Central police station has been arrested after shooting dead a bartender at a local joint.
The officer is reported to have also fired shots at three others at the local bar, known as the Vegas Club, on Wednesday, December 13, at 2:00 AM.
Further, he allegedly, opened fire before escaping after an altercation with the barmaids at the Vegas Club.
According to witnesses, the officer allegedly argued with the bartender after he failed to pay a Ksh16,000 bill.
Additionally, other residents at the club stated that they saw him reach out to his pistol before opening fire.
Notably, the officer was in civilian clothes at the time of the incident.

Police Statement on the Incident
While confirming the incident, Nakuru County police commander stated that the officer was arrested and locked up at Kaptebwa police station.
In addition, he noted that a pistol with two rounds of ammunition and six spent cartridges were recovered.
Furthermore, the commander noted that the four victims were two men and two women.
The deceased was a woman and her body was taken to a local mortuary pending post-mortem.
Doctors stated the other woman was also undergoing surgery while the two males were in stable condition.

Recent Incident of Officers Opening Fire in Bar
Earlier on November 12, 2 Kenya Defense Forces (KDF) soldiers were arrested after detonating two grenades at a local bar in Sotik, Bomet County at around 6 am.
According to the police OB, one of the soldiers was on a weekend off while the other was on leave.
During the search, a black bag belonging to one of the soldiers was discovered behind the counter of the bar cum restaurant containing 4 grenades, along with other personal items.
“Today at around 0600 hours the chairman of Chebole Trading Center notified the police that there were 2 loud sounds suspected to be gunshots within the trading centre.
“A search was conducted in the bar and two grenade pins were recovered suspected to be from grenades that caused the explosion sounds, “read the police report in part.
