Interior Principal Secretary (PS) Raymond Omollo, through an initiative, has helped build a home for a woman who was living in a shelter.
56-year-old Mama Grace Adhiambo spent years living in harsh conditions in a small, rundown shelter made from sticks, mud, and plastic sheeting.

Moreover, she lived in the shelter with her five children, 3 girls and 2 boys in Seme Katieno village in Seme Constituency, Kisumu County.

Her children played in the dirt, surrounded by old furniture and jerrycans, as they faced the daily challenges of rain, cold, and insecurity.
For years, she felt forgotten, invisible to those around her.

However, the Widow Empowerment Program changed her life completely.
The initiative, led by Interior Principal Secretary (PS) Raymond Omollo, identified Grace Adhiambo and empathised with her situation.
Consequently, they brought along workers, materials, and a commitment to making a real difference.
The team worked tirelessly to build Mama Grace a new home, replacing her shelter with solid stone walls and a sturdy roof.
Mama Grace stood in awe. Her tears were no longer from pain, they were prayers answered.
Mama now lives in a solid, dignified home. Her children sleep safely. Surrounded by the love of the community and the support of the Widow Empowerment program
“In a powerful moment during the house handover, she lifted her hands in praise, grateful for what she calls a “miracle she never imagined would happen,” a statement from the program read in part.
