Philomena Limo, a mother from Kapsabet, Nandi County, has made a heartbreaking decision to sell her two kidneys in a desperate attempt to save her ailing sons.
The mother of two, Philomena Limo, explained that her decision comes after watching her sons struggle with the consequences of drug abuse.

“As a mother of two, I have made a decision to ensure that I save my sons; I have seen them suffer enough,” she said.
In an emotional statement, she expressed her willingness to sacrifice her health in hopes of securing the medical treatment.

Philomena Limo Narrates Her Story
Philomena Limo revealed that her sons turned to drugs following the emotional trauma caused by her marriage separation.
She shared that the traumatic experience severely affected her sons. Despite reaching out for help, she has not received any support.

Philomena has sought assistance from friends, advocates, and various government agencies to secure counseling and rehabilitation for her sons, but she was met with disappointment.

Further, she stated that her sons have developed chronic mental health issues and are battling convulsions, which have left them mentally incapacitated.
In the effort to save them, she is willing to sacrifice her two kidneys in hopes of getting them the therapy and counselling they need.

Mother willing to sell a kidney to raise school fees
This is not the first time a mother has taken such drastic measures; in Kilifi County, a divorced mother of two decided to sell her kidneys in order to raise school fees for her sons.
Her decision was after she was abandoned by her two former husbands, who refused to accept and take responsibility for her sons, aged 2 and 17 years, leaving her to struggle to make ends meet.
Aisha Juma said that her son, Himasi Juma, was in form four at Kamuiru Boys Secondary School, and she owes the school an outstanding fee balance of Sh106,000.
