The Public Service Commission (PSC) has shortlisted candidates for internship positions advertised earlier this year by the Commission.

PSC in a notice on November 19 announced the date of the interviews for the shortlisted candidates who applied for the Public Service Internship Programme (PSIP) Cohort 7.

This comes after the Commission in August announced the recruitment of interns under PSIP for the Financial Year 2024/2025.

Notably, the PSIP is a flagship Kenyan government youth empowerment program that offers college graduates the opportunity to gain hands-on experience and build skills in order to enhance their chances for employment, networking, and entrepreneurship.

The program has been running since 2013 and has benefited thousands of young people.

It provides practical work experience and skills development in various fields such as administration, human resource management, records management, accounting, ICT, finance, public communication, supply chain management, economics, agriculture, agricultural engineering, and civil engineering.

According to the PSC, the interviews for the shortlisted candidates in this year’s program are scheduled to take place from Wednesday, November 20, 2024.

“The Public Service Commission is pleased to inform all those who applied for Cohort 7 Public Service Internship Programme (PSIP) opportunities advertised on 13th August, 2024, that interviews for shortlisted candidates are scheduled to take place from Wednesday 20th to Friday, 22nd November 2024 starting at 8:30am,” the notice reads.

The Commission further said that the interviews will be conducted via telephone.

Also, all the interview candidates are required to have with them the original documents of National Identity Card (ID) /Passport, academic and professional certificates for reference.

While announcing the opportunities back in August, PSC had noted that the internship program will last for twelve months and is non-renewable.

While announcing the vacancies back in August, PSC had highlighted that successful interns will be expected to complete duties mutually agreed upon and assigned by their supervisors.

They shall also document relevant skills acquired in their areas of deployment and actively participate in mentorship activities and additional responsibilities designed for the program.

To be eligible, applicants were required to have a bachelor’s degree in any discipline from a recognized university, graduated not earlier than the year 2018, and be proficient in computer skills.

How to Check

The names of the total 6,673 shortlisted candidates for the PSIP Cohort 7 drawn from different counties are available on the Public Service Commission website www.publicservice. go.ke.

As of July 2024, the PSIP has benefited over 25,200 interns since its inception in 2019.

Many former interns have successfully transitioned into permanent positions within the public service or other sectors after completing their internships.
