Principal Secretary Dr Raymond Omollo has backed a programme that helps vulnerable widows secure decent homes in Homa Bay County, with two beneficiaries receiving houses to improve their living conditions and feel more secure.
Margaret Jumau Kelo, 72, and Wilkester Akoth Nyamwala, 47, received new homes through the Widows Empowerment Programme, an initiative that supports women who have experienced loss and difficult circumstances.
The programme seeks to provide decent housing to vulnerable widows, giving them safer places to live and helping restore their dignity.
For Margaret and Wilkester, the new homes mark an opportunity to begin another chapter of their lives in safer surroundings.
New Homes Bring Security to Two Widows
Wilkester, a member of the Maisha Ngumu Widows Group in Kochia Ward, Rangwe Constituency, lives with a disability that affects her mobility.
Her new home provides a safer, more comfortable living environment and helps ease some of the challenges associated with her condition. The house is expected to offer her greater security and a more suitable place to live.
At 47, Wilkester is among the women the initiative supports, helping vulnerable widows access decent housing.
Margaret, 72, has also benefited from the programme. She belongs to the Mango Tree Widows Group in Gem West Ward, Rangwe Constituency, Homa Bay County.
