President William Ruto has announced a new international-standard stadium project, allocating KSh1 billion and setting a one-year completion deadline.
Speaking during an interdenominational church service at Nyamaiya Stadium in Nyamira County on Sunday, November 8, 2026, Ruto said the government would fund the construction of the new facility.

I have said that Nyamira will not be left behind because we also have young people here with talent, knowledge and the ability to contribute to sports in our country, Kenya,” Ruto said.
