Telecommunication Company Safaricom is offering a free Ksh500 to internet users as it competes with Elon Musk’s satelite internet company Starlink.
Safaricom has introduced a referral programme where a customer is paid Ksh500 for referring someone to the Safaricom Fibre.

Individuals can get the referral code by dialing *400*8#.
They will receive the amount after the referred customer starts using the connection.

How Safaricom Fibre Works
Safaricom Home Fibre is a service that allows you to have fast, reliable and unlimited internet access from the comfort of your home.

Once registered you will be given a Wi-Fi router that will enable you to have wireless and LAN internet access.
Safaricom also has the Home Fibre Plus today which combines mobile voice, mobile data, SMS and Home Fibre in one package.
This means that for a single fee, Safaricom Home Fibre customers can enjoy data connectivity, calls and SMS wherever they are.
To enjoy the Home Fibre Plus packages, Safaricom Home Fibre customers can dial *400#, select “Manage Your Subscription” and then select “Home Fibre Plus” option and pick their preferred package.

Areas Where it is Available
The service is available in Nairobi, Nakuru, Mombasa, Kisumu, Eldoret, Thika, Bungoma, Kitale, Nyeri and Nanyuki among other towns.
In Nairobi, the service is available in Nyayo Estate, Imara Daima, South B, Langata Estate, Ongata Rongai, Kiambu Road, Ruaka, Runda, Parklands, Westlands, Kileleshwa, Mountain View, Kinoo and Kikuyu among other estates.

Starlink Penetrates Kenyans Market
Communications Authority of Kenya (CA) report showed that Starlink’s market share in Kenya increased by more than doubled within just three months.
CA indicated that Starlink controlled a 1.1% stake in the Kenyan market as of the close of September 2024, up from 0.5% at the end of June of the same year.
Further, Starlink’s subscriber-based growth increased dramatically by 8,723 new users during the review period.
This growth pace surpassed the 8,063 subscribers gained during the full year to June, marking an impressive 101.64% growth to 16,786 subscribers.
