Telecommunications company Safaricom PLC has announced closure of all its shops in Nairobi for 24 hours.
In a statement shared on Wednesday, October 4, the telecommunications provider stated that the closure would be effected on October 6, 2023.
Further explaining reason for the move, Safaricom stated that it would allow its employees to be present for a company event on the same day.
“Safaricom shops in Nairobi will be temporarily closed as our dedicated teams come together for an internal staff event,” the statement read in part.
However, the giant telco noted that their shops located at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) would remain open to serve clients at the establishment.
Way Forward and Resumption of Services
The telecommunications company stated that they would resume their normal operations on Saturday, October 7.
“We appreciate your understanding and look forward to serving you with renewed energy and enthusiasm on Saturday,” added Safaricom.

Recent Changes Made by Safaricom
Earlier on September 21, Safaricom announced an increase in M-PESA transaction limits following the Central Bank of Kenya‘s approval.
In a statement, the telco noted that customers could send and make payments of up to Ksh250,000, a new transaction band of Ksh151,000 to Ksh250,000 for Send Money, Lipa Na M-PESA Buy Goods, Pay Bill and all other transactions.
“We welcome the move by the Central Bank of Kenya to increase M-PESA transaction limits to Kes. 250,000.
“The increased transaction limits are a timely intervention as they will provide customers and businesses with additional convenience when doing business empowering them to do more from their phones,” Safaricom CEO Peter Ndegwa stated.
