Embattled co-founder of Open AI, Sam Altman, has been reinstated as the CEO of Open AI, after a few days of drama and infighting within the tech company.
Sam Altman was kicked out of Open AI on November 17, by the board of directors who claimed that the CEO had not been candid enough with them.
This led to a series of dramatic events putting the tech startup on news headlines.
Notably, Sam Altman alongside Greg Brockman had co-founded Open AI together. Consequently, after the announcement of his firing, Greg Brockman announced his resignation.
This led to an open revolt among Open AI staff who massively tweeted the phrase, “Open AI is nothing without its people.”
However, this was not the end of the drama.
Microsoft Hires Sam Altman and Greg Brockman
On Monday November 20, Microsoft CEO, Satya Nadella announced that they were taking in Sam Altman as part of their team.

“We’re extremely excited to share the news that Sam Altman and Greg Brockman, together with colleagues, will be joining Microsoft to lead a new advanced AI research team. We look forward to moving quickly to provide them with the resources needed for their success,” Satya Nadella noted in his official X account.
Further, the Microsoft CEO noted that the tech mega company remained committed to partnering with OpenAI.
However, after the revolt by open AI employees, the board announced the reinstatement of Sam Altman as CEO.
Concurrently, Greg Brockman also announced that he was back in the Open AI team, not so long after.
Microsoft CEO was quick to respond to the new development, wishing Open AI success.
“We are encouraged by the changes to the OpenAI board. We believe this is a first essential step on a path to more stable, well-informed, and effective governance,” Satya Nadella said on X.
New Open AI Board Unveiled
Additionally, Open AI noted that the board would also be revamped, with some new members added to the list.
OpenAI on X announced that its new board would constitute of former Salesforce co-CEO Bret Taylor, former White House adviser and Harvard University President Larry Summers and Adam D’Angelo, the CEO of the website Quora.

Of note, Open AI is the parent company behind the making of popular AI app, Chat GPT.
However, with the days of infighting within the tech company, users of Chat GPT noted that the AI chatbot had been a mess.
