Skyward Express airline has launched direct flights from Mombasa to Dar es Salaam in Tanzania.
The airline launched the new route on December 11, 2024, in an event graced by Mombasa Governor Abdulswamad Sharrif Nassir.
In a statement, Governor Nassir stated that the development will increase regional ties.
“Today, alongside the Chairman of the Kenya Airports Authority Hon. Caleb Kositany we proudly inaugurated Skyward Express new direct flight route from Mombasa to Dar es Salaam. This significant development enhances connectivity between Kenya and Tanzania, fostering increased trade, tourism, and cultural exchange. As we strengthen our regional ties, we open doors to shared prosperity and mutual growth,” said Abdulswamad.

Skyward is yet to give information on flight fare prices and booking details for the direct flights from Mombasa to Dar es Salaam.
In 2024, the airline has been keen on extending its services regionally. In November 2024, the airline marked its first expansion outside Kenya by launching a direct flight from Nairobi to Dar es Salaam.

Skyward flies from Nairobi to Dar es Salaam thrice a week; Monday, Friday, and Sunday. Fares for this route begin from Ksh18,500.
Airline launches new base at JKIA
The airline had been operating from Wilson Airport until March 2024 when it launched a new base at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA). The expansion to offer flights outside Kenya has been attributed to the new base at JKIA.
Skyward’s base at JKIA was opened to link international passengers to Mombasa and now with the new route, they will be able to travel to Dar es Salam and back.

Skyward flies to different destinations including Diani, Lodwar, Kitale, Mombasa, Malindi, Eldoret, Kakamega, Kitale and Migori.
The airline was founded in 2013 by a group of local pilots and investors. Other airlines that offer direct flights to Tanzania include Kenya Airways and Air Tanzania.
