Police Report on the Vehicle
Earlier on February 15, Keiyo South OCPD Abdullahi Dahir stated that the vehicle might have been speeding when the accident occurred.
“A vehicle which is at manageable speed can break in my understanding, somebody can apply breaks and it stops. That is why we suspect it was over speeding,” said Dahir.
Also, he indicated that the review of the accident scene and the Toyota Premier vehicle involved in the accident showed that the front part was intact, and the airbags did not deploy.
“The sensor to the airbag normally is at the front and if there were no impacts on the front part of the vehicle the airbags could not blow. The impact is on the top of the car,” said Dahir.

The report came after Members of Parliament (MPs) demanded that thorough investigations be done to ascertain that the four men who visited Kiptum’s home before the accident had nothing to do with his demise.
“Having listened to what his father said, I think there should be a thorough investigation to what actually caused the accident,” said Lang’ata MP Phelix Odiwuor also known as Jalang’o.
The Four Who Visited Kiptum Break Silence
However, when the four men were interrogated by officers from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), they revealed that they were sent by a Chinese Company to negotiate a Ksh.45 million contract signed by the athlete.
Further, they explained that they were on a successful mission and even took photos after the negotiations adding that they were well known to the family.
According to the four, they agreed that the matter was concluded only for the father to change tune and refer to them as strangers.
“They were welcomed and received by the Kiptum’s parents and wife. They were given food, stayed there for three hours and the meeting was successful,
“We have shared with the DCI on why they were there, they will be able to carry out their investigations but, on our part, they were there for a good course, and it was successful,” said their lawyer Kipyegon Lagat.
