AGC Tenwek Hospital has addressed a concern raised over Activist Hanifa Farsafi’s failure to complete payments for patients hurt during anti-tax protests in June and July.
This follows various press releases shared online from hospitals, claiming that the activists did not send the full amount to cover the hospital bills.
Speaking to The Kenya Times, a representative from the hospital explained that the hospital had not released such a notice adding that it was forged.
The forged notice, dated September 11, claimed that activist Hanifa Farsafa dupped Kenyans on the total amount sent to cover the hospital bills and only a small percentage was sent to hospitals.

Details of the Forged Tenwek Notice
According to the statement, the record shows a sum of only Ksh46,230 was donated by Hanifa. The hospital has expressed gratitude for the support towards the injured but criticized the misrepresentation of facts regarding the financial aid.
Further, the hospital also mentioned its policy of non-engagement in public disputes but felt compelled to correct the misinformation circulating in the media and online platforms.
“It has come to our attention that a crowdfunding organizer has recently made public claims involving our hospital. The individual has alleged that a sum of Ksh737,693 was paid to cover medical bills for patients who were injured during the Gen Z protests.
“We wish to clarify that according to our official records, the amount received from this individual is Ksh46,230. While we appreciate the importance of supporting injured individuals, we strongly oppose any misrepresentation of our institution and will not engage in public conversations around these claims,” read the notice in part.

Notice from Nairobi West Hospital
On the other hand, a notice alleged to have come from Nairobi West Hospital indicated that although Hanifa said she sent Ksh5,862,734 to the healthcare facility, they only received Ksh1,326,480.
The hospital expressed its intention to remain neutral and focused on its mission of delivering quality healthcare, irrespective of the ongoing social unrest.
Additionally, the statement indicated that the hospital would not participate in public discussions about the issue to allow it to handle matters discreetly and professionally.
“We want to set the record straight by stating that the amount received from the said organizer does not match this claimed figure,” the hospital stated, emphasizing its commitment to transparency and factual accuracy.
“As a hospital, we remain neutral and focused on delivering quality healthcare to all,” the statement read. “We prioritize the confidentiality of our patient’s information and will ensure that any release of data adheres to legal requirements.”
In a statement on September 4, Hanifa noted that Ksh31.66 million was collected as contributions in an M-changa account she created dubbed “care for the injured”. Ksh30,296,574 was allocated to support 208 individuals and families affected by the protests.
