“I love you very much, I would do anything for you guys! Your love and support were felt amidst all the attacks and malice. I was always scared to open twitter and everyday was agonizing for me. Explaining to my family to ignore propaganda every time they got angry was the hardest part for me,”
In addition, Hanifa encouraged Kenyans to stand by lawyer Morara Kebaso in his efforts to hold the government accountable, reminding them not to judge him harshly for his mistakes, as he is only human.
“Please protect Morara and don’t demoralize him. He is the one standing up for us now. He can make mistakes please don’t crucify him entirely for that,” she said.
Furthermore, the activist urged the youth to keep up the fighting spirit in honour of their peers who died during the demonstrations.
“Let your anger not die down. I hope the deaths of our comrades won’t be in vain. We have all found our voice. I hope we never lose it!!!” Hanifa urged.

M-Changa Donations
Of this, Ksh30,296,574 was allocated to support 208 individuals and families affected by the protests. The distribution of funds was managed with careful consideration of the available resources and anticipated medical expenses, according to the activist.
The administrative costs of the fundraiser were also detailed in the audit. Mobi-Changa Limited applied a standard platform fee of 4.25% of the total funds raised, amounting to Ksh 1,345,702.
Additionally, there was a 2.5% fee for donations made via credit and debit cards, totaling Ksh21,304. The audit highlighted that these fees are lower than those charged by similar platforms regionally and globally.
The breakdown sought to shed light on how the money was used to settle medical bills for the injured, support the bereaved families, and provide aid to those with serious and permanent injuries.
