UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer arrived in Ukraine on Saturday, 10, 2025, to hold talks aiming at pressuring Russia into agreeing to a 30-day ceasefire.
In a unified declaration issued before they arrived in Kyiv, British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, French President Emmanuel Macron, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, and Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk affirmed their united stance with Ukraine.
“We are ready to support peace talks as soon as possible, to discuss technical implementation of the ceasefire, and prepare for a full peace deal,” the leaders said.
Speaking on Saturday, the French President Emmanuel Macron called for honest peace talks.
“First, peace, a just and lasting peace begins with a complete and unconditional ceasefire,” Macron said.
Starmer Joins Trump in Russia-Ukraine Peace Talks
“If the ceasefire is not respected, the US and its partners will impose further sanctions,” Trump posted on Truth Social.
In phone conversation with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, US President Donald Trump reaffirmed his call for a 30-day unconditional ceasefire.
The world leaders also stressed that the violence must cease, Russia’s invasion must come to an end, and Ukraine must be allowed to flourish as a “peaceful, secure, and independent nation” within its internationally recognized borders for future generations.
Cease Shipping Weapons to Ukraine
Speaking to ABC News, Peskov argued that the continued flow of arms would provide Ukraine with a significant “advantage,” enabling it to sustain its “total mobilisation” and bring additional forces to the front lines.
He also stated that Ukraine is may not prepared for immediate talks, while reinforcing that President Putin is committed to seeking a peaceful and diplomatic resolution.

World Leaders Backs Trump
“We will continue to strengthen our support for Ukraine. Until Russia agrees to a sustainable ceasefire, we will escalate pressure on Russia’s war machine,” they added.
In the meantime, Russia has declared a unilateral three-day ceasefire in observance of World War II Victory Day. However, Ukraine has rejected the ceasefire, calling it a mere pretense.
Russia insists it has upheld the ceasefire and accuses Ukraine of multiple violations.

Ukraine and Russia War
The Russia-Ukraine war, which began in February 2014, escalated in February 2022 when Russia launched a full-scale invasion of Ukraine.
However, the war has persisted with intense fighting, particularly in eastern and southern Ukraine, where Russia has seized significant territories, but Ukraine has initiated counteroffensive operations to reclaim these areas.
Efforts to negotiate a ceasefire or peace agreement have so far been unsuccessful, with tens of thousands of civilians and soldiers losing their lives, and millions have been displaced.
