President Donald Trump has signed an executive order launching the first-ever federally funded self-deportation program for illegal immigrants in the U.S.
The initiative offers free flights and an exit bonus to those who voluntarily leave the country.
“Today, I signed an Executive Order to launch the first-ever self-deportation program,” he wrote in his post on his official X account, RealDonaldTrump.
Trump explains what happens to illegals who remain in the US
Trump warned that illegal aliens who remain will face severe penalties, including sudden deportation, jail time, and financial sanctions.
“Illegal aliens who stay in America face punishments, including sudden deportation, in a place and manner solely of our discretion,” stated Trump on a post he shared on X.

He asks the immigrants to start booking their flights now to facilitate their deportation out of the United States.
“To all illegal aliens: Book your free flight right now,” he added.
Additionally, a phone app, CBP Home, has been launched to facilitate free bookings for immigrants to any foreign country as long as it is not in the US.
This will be accompanied by the exit bonus, which will help to further incentivize the illegals on their self-deportation.
The deportation bonus will save American taxpayers billions and billions of dollars, according to Trump.

Trump further explains that eventually, when the illegal immigrants are gone, the program will save the country trillions of dollars, and if the illegal immigrants choose to remain in America, they will remain illegally and will be subjected to severe punishments.
Reactions on Trumps deportation
A mixture of reactions was expressed in the comments, with some supporting as others questioned this differently.

An anthropologist, @robertsepehr, criticised the move, saying this will not help cut illegal immigrants and instead advocated for alternatives ways to be sought.
“If you’re serious about self-deportations, then you must impose extreme punitive damages on companies that hire illegal migrants. Offering a free flight is not going to cut it, hit the corporations that profit and remove any government incentives, then they will leave in droves,” the anthropologist wrote in a comment on Trump’s announcement.
An American citizen @rose_dufay also commented, stating that there was need to verify who was getting food from the food banks, as the illegals were allegedly getting food meant for the poor.
“Make them show ID to get food at “food banks”. Most of the people getting the food meant for the poor are illegals who take from those who are kind enough to give; they play them for suckers,” she said
