BasiGo Deploys 28 More Electric Buses in Rwanda
BasiGo indicated that these 28 vehicles will be used for both city and inter-city routes.
Furthermore, BasiGo stated that it has committed to deploying a total of 100 electric buses across Rwanda by 2025, having secured the necessary funding in October 2024.
The company estimates that this deployment will reduce carbon emissions by approximately 3,000 tons annually and create hundreds of local jobs.
“The company has already received over 360 reservations for electric buses from Rwandan operators looking to replace their aging diesel buses or expand their fleets,” the statement added.
The deployment of more vehicles aligns with Rwanda’s Vision 2050, positioning BasiGo as a key player in the country’s transportation transformation and sustainability goals.

According to BasiGo, the company is also growing its network of charging infrastructure in order to facilitate the deployment of these vehicles. This will include upgrades to its Rwandex charging and service depot, which will feature 1 MW of power, capable of reliably charging 25 electric buses nightly.
To make inter-city operations easier, more charging stations will be built nationwide. Operators may more easily incorporate electric buses into their fleets using BasiGo’s Pay-As-You-Drive model, which provides an all-inclusive solution that covers charging, service and maintenance, insurance for the electric buses, and a 90% uptime guarantee.
