Woman Sets House on Fire Locking Her Children Inside

A woman in Bwayi village in Moi’s Bridge, Uasin Gishu County, reportedly set her house ablaze and locked her two young children inside.

The harrowing incident, which occurred while the children’s father was away at work, has left the community in shock and mourning.

According to preliminary reports, the children, aged 2 and 4, were unable to escape the inferno and tragically perished in the fire.

Further, eyewitness accounts suggested that the woman deliberately set the house on fire following a domestic dispute with her husband.

Neighbours attempted to intervene but were unable to rescue the children in time.

“The children have been found burnt up. The mother was here when the house was burning and when the fire started growing the woman ran away. The husband was at work the whole time,” said a neighbour.

Neighbours Condemn the Woman as They Mourn the Deaths

The neighbours have strongly condemned the actions of the woman saying that she ought not have brought such pain to her children because of wrangles with her husband.

“If you are fighting with your husband, just leave him and get some fresh air. If the man is not enough for you, leave him for good. It is very wrong to bring such wrangles to the children and hurt them like this, ” one eyewitness said while speaking to the press.

“She should have taken the children away with her to her parents’ home instead of killing them like this,” another neighbour added.

Uasin Gishu County officials have condemned the act, calling for calm and support for the grieving father and the broader community. “This tragedy highlights the urgent need to address domestic conflicts constructively and seek help before situations escalate,” a county official remarked.
