The number of Palestinians killed since the conflict between Hamas and Israel began has climbed to 69,169, with an additional 170,685 people reported injured, according to Gaza’s Ministry of Health.
Officials attribute the rise in deaths to the discovery of more bodies beneath the rubble since the ceasefire and the identification of victims who had not been previously named.
The confirmation comes at a time when Israel handed over the bodies of 15 Palestinians to Gaza, following the return of remains of Israelis who died in the war by Palestinian militants.
Death Toll of Palestinians Killed in Gaza Rises to 69,169
The exchange is part of a fragile U.S.-mediated ceasefire arrangement that has been in effect amid the two-year conflict.
Under the terms of the truce, Israel has been returning the bodies of 15 Palestinians for every Israeli hostage repatriated.
According to Nasser Hospital in Khan Younis, 15 bodies were received and brought to the facility on Saturday, November 8.
The report on the rise in death toll comes amid renewed attacks by Israeli forces on a section of the Gaza Strip.

Israeli forces have continued to carry out air strikes and artillery shelling in Gaza, particularly in the eastern areas of Gaza City and Khan Younis, despite an ongoing ceasefire with Hamas.
Israeli warplanes launched drone strikes and artillery shelling early on November 8, primarily targeting the eastern areas of Gaza City and Khan Younis.
Since the US-brokered ceasefire began on October 10, over 240 Palestinians have been killed in Israeli attacks in the Strip, according to Gaza’s Health Ministry.
About the Ceasefire Deal
In early October 2025, former U.S. President Donald Trump brokered a ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hamas, marking the first step toward ending the war that began in October 2023.
Trump announced the deal on October 8, 2025, through a post on Truth Social, describing it as the “first phase” of a broader peace plan for Gaza. The Israeli Cabinet approved the outline of the agreement the following day.

The accord focuses primarily on a phased ceasefire, the release of Israeli hostages held by Hamas, and the gradual withdrawal of Israeli forces from parts of Gaza. In exchange, Hamas is expected to release all remaining Israeli captives and allow humanitarian aid to flow freely into the territory.
The plan is called a “20-point peace framework.” It includes reopening border crossings and starting large-scale humanitarian aid efforts to help improve the worsening conditions in Gaza.
