Strike drones reportedly bore in on the 750‑kV Vladimirskaya Substation near the city of Vladimir, in Russia’s Vladimir region, delivering a new blow to Moscow’s power grid.
Videos circulating online capture flames and electrical flashes at the facility, a clear indication that Ukrainian forces successfully hit one of Russia’s largest and most strategically critical energy hubs.
The facility, which serves as a central node from which a network of high-voltage lines (110 kV to 750 kV) helps supply electricity across much of the region.
According to the Energybase database, the substation has an installed capacity of approximately 4,010 MVA.
Footage analyzed by The Kenya Times shows visible fires and flashes at the site.
Drone Strikes Target Russian Energy and Fuel Facilities
A series of drone attacks on October 31 hit multiple critical energy facilities deep inside Russia, including a thermal power plant in Oryol and the Slavneft-Yaroslavl oil refinery.

Oryol regional governor Andrei Klychkov reported that the city’s main thermal power station was struck overnight, damaging an open-air switchgear unit and causing power outages across parts of the city.
Residents captured explosions and flames on video as the incident unfolded.
In Yaroslavl, roughly 700 kilometers from the Ukrainian border, a drone strike sparked a fire at the Slavneft-Yaroslavl refinery.
NASA’s FIRMS satellite data later confirmed active fire signatures at the site.
The refinery, one of Russia’s five largest, has a capacity to process up to 15 million tons of crude oil annually and supplies fuel to industrial facilities, airports, the Northern Railway Administration, and the defense sector.
Ukrainian Special Operations Forces also reportedly carried out precision strikes on fuel storage and oil facilities in Russian-occupied areas of Luhansk.
The attacks targeted logistical infrastructure supplying Russian front-line units, striking at a time when fuel tanks were fully loaded, triggering explosions and widespread fires.

Ukraine Drone Attacks
Ukraine has increasingly targeted Russian energy infrastructure, while Russia continues to focus its own strikes deep into Ukraine’s power systems.
Since early 2024, monitors in Ukraine have documented dozens of attacks on power plants, thermal power stations, dams, and transmission networks.
According to a United Nations‑linked report, 36 strikes hit power‑generation facilities and at least 101 targeted transmission/distribution sites in Ukraine by mid‑2024.
Russia has repeatedly used long‑range missiles, drones, and loitering munitions to hammer the electrical grid.
One March 2024 barrage was described as the largest such energy‑infrastructure assault since the invasion began; it involved more than 60 drones and 90 rockets and left large areas without power.
