Ann Adhiambo, the main suspect in the murder of Nairobi Hospital Finance Officer Eric Maigo has pleaded guilty.
Appearing before the High Court judge Kanyi Kimondo on Thursday, October 26, Adhiambo admitted to the offence.

Moreover, she took the plea after the court clerk read to her three times the offence she is alleged to have committed in Swahili.
Additionally, the judge made sure that the suspect knew the consequences of pleading guilty asking her to consult with her lawyers before pleading again.

“In the interest of justice, I have given her time to consult with her advocates before pleading again”, judge Arora stated.
Questions Raised Over Adhiambo’s Age
At the same time, Adhiambo’s defense lawyers led by Samuel Ayora, argued that she was still a minor and was only 17 years old.

However, the prosecution maintained that Adhiambo is an adult and had been assessed by a qualified doctor.
Justice Kimondo directed the issue to be handled by Kibera High Court Judge Diana Kavedza.

Consequently, the prosecution stated that Adhiambo was fit to stand trial and accepted the age assessment that indicated that she was above 18 years old.
Accusations Against Ann Adhiambo in Eric Maigo’s Case
According to the charge sheet read in court, Adhiambo is accused of killing Eric Maigo on September 15, at Woodley Estate in Kilimani.
The case was set to be mentioned on November 8, 2023, for plea-taking at Kibera Law Court.
Adhiambo was remanded at Langata Women’s Prison.

Information Released by DCI so Far About the Case
Earlier, the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) revealed that an assessment carried out at the Mathari Hospital established that the suspect was an adult between 20 and 21 years.
Moreover, the investigations established that she was of sound mind and therefore fit to stand trial.
In a ruling delivered on September 28, a Nairobi Court granted the prosecution its request to detain Adhiambo for 21 days.
DCI also revealed that Maigo was found murdered in his home with 25 stab wounds in different parts of his body including neck, hands and face.
Additionally, officers discovered CCTV footages from entertainment joints along Ngong Road that showed Maigo leaving in the company of three females.
Maigo was buried on September 29 in Kisii County.
