Man Gets Life Imprisonment for Defiling 9-Year-Old Boy

Murang’a Court has sentenced a man to life imprisonment for defiling a 9-year-old boy.

The statement issued by the office of the Director of Public Prosecution (ODPP) on Thursday, November 17 states that the accused identified as John Chege lured the minor to his home by promising him a pen as a reward for the work, he had done for him.

Moreover, Chief Magistrate P. Maina in his judgement said that Chege took advantage of the minor’s trust and ended up defiling him. He further noted that the accused was not remorseful during the whole hearing hence, the reason behind the ruling.

“While delivering the judgement, Hon. P. Maina, Chief Magistrate, said that John Chege took advantage of the child’s trust in him, and that the accused was not remorseful. Thus, the aggravating circumstances outweighed the mitigating circumstances.” Said ODPP.

Furthermore, the Probation Officer’s report stated that the community and the 9-year-old’s family are still bitter with the accused for his actions and asked the court to impose a deterrence sentence.
