A police officer was arraigned at a court in Narok on Monday, December 5 for allegedly defiling a minor who was under police custody after she was defiled elsewhere.
The suspect identified as constable Anthony Leiteipa Nanyukie attached to Sakutiek police station in Narok County was accused of defiling the 16-year-old on December 2, 2022.
Moreover, while appearing before Magistrate Samuel Mungai, the 50-year-old suspect pleaded not guilty, saying he did not defile the minor overnight as alleged.
According to reports, the minor had been taken to the police station in need of care and protection from the state when the incident occurred.
Nonetheless, Charles Langat, who is the suspect’s lawyer, pleaded with the court to release his client on cash bond of Ksh. 100,000 because the accused is a father and breadwinner of seven.
He further requested that his client be detained at Sakutiek Police post.

The minor was taken to a Narok hospital where she is receiving treatment
