Azimio la Umoja One Kenya Alliance coalition presidential flagbearer Raila Odinga has listed key concerns the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) should address ahead of a meeting with the commission’s chair.
On Wednesday, June 29, IEBC’s boss Wafula Chebukati will be meeting the four candidates cleared to vie for the presidency on August 9.
Through lawyer Paul Mwangi, Raila’s team said the coalition wrote to IEBC asking the commission to furnish them with the full list of the voter’s register that was audited by KPMG.
The coalition further stated that they needed a detailed list of voters per polling station and the ID numbers used for registration.
Azimio la Umoja further demanded that Chebukati makes public a list of all the polling station in the country and their location.
The team is also demanding that they should be furnished with details of all election technologies to be used including the network connectivity of the polling stations and the KIEMS kit.
“In this election, there is a very slow response at answering questions that have been asked, unlike previous elections.
“The chairman last time indicated that they had identified people who had tried to sabotage the system and he promised that he will reveal who they were and what action was taken against them,” Mwangi said.
The coalition also wants to be given a detailed report on the action that was taken against three electoral officials who were being investigated for the alleged fraudulent transfer of voters.
Mwangi explained that the electoral Commission needs to assure all the aspirants of the integrity of the polls.
“The problem is that if you sabotage the technology on that day it means that some polling stations will not operate because they will not have the voters register,” Mwangi said.
