Baricho Boys High School is a public national boarding secondary school for boys located in Kirinyaga County. The institution was established in 1964 by the late Bishop Caesar Gatimu of the Nyeri Catholic Diocese, in collaboration with the Catholic Mission.
When it first opened, the Catholic-sponsored school enrolled just 30 students. Since then, it has grown significantly, now accommodating over 1,400 learners.
The government officially took over the school in 1973, appointing Joseph Kagenya as the first principal under the Teachers Service Commission.
Baricho Boys was later elevated to national school status in recognition of its notable academic and infrastructural growth.
Each year, the school admits over 400 students based on academic merit and individual preference, per Kenya’s education placement policy.
