Cape Media, the parent company of TV47, Radio 47 and Cape Studios, has appointed Creative Director June Akinyi Ndinya as acting Chief Executive Officer and Managing Editor Keneth Kadzomba Kazungu as acting Editor-in-Chief.
In a press release issued by the company on Saturday, October 10, 2026, the appointments take effect immediately following the exit of their predecessors.
Ndinya takes over from Mwenda Njoka, MBS, who previously served as Cape Media’s chief executive, while Kazungu replaces Simon Macharia Gachuru as Editor-in-Chief.
The changes come as the media company prepares to recruit substantive office holders to fill the two positions.
In announcing the appointments, Cape Media said the new leadership would support its strategic direction by bringing together creative leadership and editorial expertise.
“The appointments support Cape Media’s strategic direction, bringing creative leadership and editorial expertise together to strengthen its content, audience engagement and service to clients and partners,” the company said.
Cape Media Apoints June Akinyi Ndinya Acting CEO
Ndinya brings more than two decades of experience in television production and direction, having worked on several Kenyan television dramas and youth-focused productions.
Before her appointment as acting CEO, she served as Cape Media’s Creative Director. In her new role, she will oversee the company’s operations and implementation of its strategic priorities.
Her career includes directing and producing popular productions such as Machachari, Mali, Wingu la Moto, Tabasamu, Joto, MRS and Kona.
She has also worked on MTV Shuga Mashariki and Down South, productions known for their youth-focused storytelling and exploration of social issues.
Ndinya directed Prefects, which was nominated for the International Emmy Awards in 2025. Her portfolio also includes N*Gen Season 3, which received a Bronze Telly Award and a Communicator Award and was nominated for a Peabody Award, according to her professional profile.
Beyond television production, Ndinya has worked as a mentor and media trainer at the Africa Digital Media Institute (ADMI), where she has trained emerging media professionals since 2010.
She has also supported initiatives for women in film and media, including the Girls-Only Film Lab, and worked on refugee-led productions through FilmAid Kenya.
Her appointment places a media professional with experience in creative production, talent development and television direction at the helm of Cape Media as it navigates the leadership transition.

Keneth Kadzomba Kazungu Takes Charge of Editorial Operations
Kazungu, who previously served as Managing Editor, has been appointed acting Editor-in-Chief following Gachuru’s exit.
He will oversee Cape Media’s editorial operations and ensure that its journalism maintains standards of accuracy, fairness and accountability.
Kazungu joined Cape Media in August 2022 as News Editor before becoming Managing Editor in January 2023, a position he held until his latest appointment.
During his time at the company, he has managed editorial operations and newsroom management, experience that will be central to his new responsibilities overseeing Cape Media’s journalism.
Before joining Cape Media, Kazungu worked at Ebru TV, where he served as Head of News from January 2020 to August 2022. He had earlier worked at the station as a news anchor and reporter, gaining experience in news presentation and reporting.

His journalism career also includes a stint at Radio Waumini, where he gathered news, wrote scripts for bulletins and reports in both English and Swahili, and presented live news. He also hosted Mdahalo wa Utawala, a Saturday programme focused on governance issues.
Kazungu studied communication, journalism and related programmes at Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT).
The company said the appointments were intended to strengthen its content and audience engagement, placing editorial leadership among the key priorities during the transition.
The board acknowledged the contributions of Njoka and Gachuru as they left their respective positions.
“The Board thanks the outgoing CEO, Mr Mwenda Njoka, MBS and the outgoing Editor-in-Chief, Mr Simon Macharia Gachuru, for their contributions and wishes them success in their future endeavours,” the statement read.
