Director of Criminal Investigations (DCI), boss Mohamed Amin, has responded to the former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua’s allegations of an assassination attempt.
Speaking to the media on Saturday, Amin asked Gachagua to report any security concerns to the police and avoid turning serious security matters into theatrics.
“If the former Deputy President has an issue concerning any matter regarding threats over his life and property, he should have filed a report at the police station,” Amin said.
Further, Amin stated that he agrees with the statement issued by the National police Service, assuring that security agencies remain committed to protecting all individuals without political bias.

DCI director Amin also urged Rigathi Gachagua to refrain from turning serious security matters into public theatrics through the media.
Additionally, Amin said that once the Deputy President files an official report, his claims will be investigated, and he will be treated fairly, just like any other citizen, upon presenting himself at a police station.

The National Police Service (NPS) had earlier responded to the letter by former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, advising him to liaise with the service in case he needs additional security.
Inspector General of Police Douglas Kanja, through a statement issued by Police Spokesperson Muchiri Nyaga, clarified that the National Police Service (NPS) remains committed to ensuring the safety of all individuals without political bias or discrimination.
Further, the Police Service instructed him to notify the police in advance of his movements and public engagements to facilitate proper planning.

In his letter addressed to Inspector General of Police Douglas Kanja, Gachagua demanded the immediate arrest and prosecution of those responsible for the violence that occurred during recent public gatherings.
“You withdrew my security in a clear, thought-out scheme and backward conspiracy to make me vulnerable to organized criminal gangs in cohort with the Police and other Security Agencies and have been implementing the scheme. You are aware that,” Gachagua said.
He also called for adequate security to be provided at all public events he attends, citing escalating threats to his safety.
In addition, he called for an immediate stop to the stalking and trailing of himself and his family members by NIS officers and other security agencies.
Moreover, he demanded protection for his home and property.
