Former Prime Minister Raila Odinga joined President William Ruto for the second day of the Third National Executive retreat in Karen.
The ODM party issued a statement clarifying Raila’s role in the ongoing Executive Retreat.
ODM said Raila was invited to the retreat as a keynote speaker.
The Party said Raila talked about issues related to governance and how stakeholders can relate to the public in developing the country.
“PL was invited to be a keynote speaker at the ongoing Third National Executive Retreat at the KCB Leadership Centre in Karen,” ODM said.
“He shared his insights on governance and the relationship with the public and stakeholders in national building.”
The two-day meeting led by President Ruto is meant to take stock of the government’s deliverables so far.
Raila Insights at the Retreat
In a statement after the meeting, Ruto said the Executive was honoured by the apt wisdom, insights, and ideas shared by Raila during his address.
Ruto said Raila’s ringing call for leaders to focus on what is right rather than what is popular strongly resonates with the values of Kenya Kwanza government.
“We also drew valuable lessons from Odinga’s thoughts on the implementation of national infrastructure programmes, including affordable housing, fresh produce markets, and the development and expansion of airports, among others,” Ruto said.
Raila also discussed the useful role of technology in national transformation, including Artificial Intelligence, and commended the government’s continued digitisation of services.

Ruto Not Focusing on 2027 Election
Speaking during the opening of the retreat, Ruto asked members of the Executive to focus on delivering the transformation agenda that the ruling party promised Kenyans.
The President said he is not focusing on the next General Election, but on the ways and means of transforming the country.
Ruto described his government’s “pro-people policies” as tangible proof of the government’s Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda at work.
He expressed satisfaction with the difficult decisions the government had made to turn around the country’s fortunes, saying they have been successful and are paying dividends.
Additionally, he commended the government’s performance so far, but pointed out that there was need to do more to accelerate the delivery of the Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda.
“We are here to reflect on where we came from, where we are and agree on the future. We should know that failure is not an option,” President Ruto said.

Affordable Housing
He singled out reforms in health, housing, education, energy, and agriculture as timely, saying they have transformed the lives of citizens at the bottom of the economic pyramid.
“I want you to be focused, courageous and work as a team in implementing our transformative agenda. Implementing transformation required to change Kenya is not easy, but it’s possible and doable if we do it together,” Ruto said.
Kenya’s Economy
Ruto stated that his administration effected deliberate interventions that have stabilised our economy.
He mentioned that Kenya is now the sixth-largest economy in Africa.
“We intend to enhance these interventions by managing our expenditures and increasing our revenues,” Ruto added.
“We will also maintain our foreign exchange reserves by sustaining more exports, so as to grow our balance of payment numbers.”
