Government Spokesperson Cyrus Oguna has defended President Uhuru Kenyatta against blames of the rising cost of living witnessed in Kenya.
Speaking on Radio Citizen, Oguna said the high cost of living is a global and not an Uhuru or Kenya-problem.
“It is not fair to put this blame on one person, it is not the President”
“It is not him, he has no individual powers,” Oguna said.
Oguna said Uhuru has no control over the Russia-Ukraine war, which has been a major contribution to the inflation crisis.
At the same time, he noted that the 2018 handshake between Uhuru and Raila Odinga was not the cause of inflation in Kenya.
“Where is the handshake coming from? I am not a politician, but I know at this period people will say many things to praise themselves,” he said.
“They throw stones at the government to get praise, the truth is that since the handshake there has been peace and development,” he said
He added that so much has been achieved since the handshake between President Uhuru and Raila Odinga.
The government spokesperson accused Kenya kwanza politicians of using the inflation problem to score political points.
