Belgut Member of Parliament Nelson Koech has criticized NARC-Kenya party leader Martha Karua over her recent remarks on the government claiming it is led by “gangsters”.
While speaking during an interview on Citizen TV on Tuesday, December 6, the Belgut MP noted that Karua was wrong to utter those words in public factoring in her prominence and her leadership caliber.
“Looking at what Martha Karua said, I think that is totally out of order. To call William Ruto’s government of thugs and criminals, is totally unfair and it is a very silly statement from a senior leader to have made such a comment against the system of William Ruto,” he said.
Moreover, MP Koech claimed that Karua only attacks the ruling government when she is not benefiting from it.
He further added that if that were not the case the NARC-Kenya leader would have shared the same sentiments during President Uhuru Kenyatta’s regime.
“The mess that we currently have in the country, Martha Karua should have said it in the last regime, but she kept quiet because it was convenient for her, she knew she was going to be the Deputy President. She was blind and now she is awake because she is in the opposition.”

The Belgut MP’s sentiments came following Martha Karua’s accusations against President Ruto for imposing a mafia-led state on Kenyans while addressing the press on Monday.
Likewise, the NARC-Kenya boss claimed that there are concerns over what she termed as “the brazen attack on Chapter 6 of the Constitution” by Ruto with the appointment of graft-linked individuals into public office.
“We are seeing a pattern where people are facing serious criminal cases like money laundering, fraud, giving kickbacks and yet they are being appointed to critical positions including leadership of the very institutions that took them to court,” she said.
“Ruto is slowly imposing a mafia state on Kenya. This reign by gangsters is scary and unnerving. It has never been seen in Kenya even during our past bad days. It has been said jokingly in the past whereas other countries have a mafia, in Kenya, mafia has a country.” Karua stated.
