Evans Kidero while explaining why he chose to leave city politics for Homa Bay county in the August 9 general elections said he had plans of adding value to his home county.
The Former Nairobi Governor during an interview on K24 stated that Homa Bay county has lagged development-wise in the last 10 years, as such felt he could have added value, had he been elected governor.

Moreover, Evans Kidero said he was born in Nairobi, but a lot of his resources have always gone to his home county Homa Bay to help the residents.
“I was born here in Nairobi but my folks and the people I help and where most of my income goes in terms of helping people; educating people, paying for hospitals, and buying food for them is in Homa Bay. And I saw what had happened in the previous 10 years. There was absolutely no development,” Kidero said.

The former county boss also noted that Nairobi has a population running into millions of people and others are like him and others could be even better than him when it comes to managing county affairs.
“We know what happened in 2017, and Nairobi being the capital city with over five million people, there are a lot of people who are as good as me or probably even better than me in managing Nairobi,” he said.

Nonetheless, Evans Kidero was first elected Nairobi governor in 2013 under ODM. In 2017, he vied again for the seat but lost to Mike Sonko who was Nairobi senator from 2013 to 2017.
Additionally, the former Nairobi governor moved from city politics and ran for the Homa Bay gubernatorial seat in the recently concluded August general election. Unfortunately for him, he lost the race to head his home county to Hon. Gladys Wanga.
Kidero vied for the gubernatorial post as an independent candidate after ODM handed the party ticket to Gladys Wanga.
Nonetheless, Evans Kidero has filed a petition seeking to overturn Wanga’s win over what he claims to be election malpractices.
