The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) has officially opened applications for aspirants ahead of the 2027 General Elections, inviting members interested in contesting various elective seats to apply.
In a notice dated May 11, 2026, the party, through its National Elections Coordinating Committee (NECC), called on eligible members to express interest in running on the ODM ticket.
According to the notice, the call is made in line with Article 61(1) of the ODM Constitution, read together with Rule 7(T) and Part VIII of the party’s Elections and Nomination Rules.
The party said the process is intended to ensure an orderly and transparent selection of candidates ahead of the highly anticipated polls.
How to Apply for ODM Nominations
ODM listed six elective positions for which aspirants can apply.
These include the presidency, governor seats, Senate positions, county woman representative roles, member of the National Assembly positions, and member of the county assembly seats.
The party stated that the application process will be conducted online, through its official portal.
Interested members have been directed to submit their applications through the official ODM online portal, at https://aspirants.odm-ke.com/.

The party set June 30, 2026, as the deadline for all submissions, giving aspirants slightly over a month to complete the process.
In addition to applying, members have also been encouraged to verify their membership status before seeking nomination.
“Members are encouraged to verify their membership details via dialing *483*036#,” read part of the notice by ODM.
ODM stated that only registered voters will be eligible to apply to comply with the national electoral regulations.
The ODM application process is completed in five steps through the party’s online portal.
First, aspirants verify their membership by entering their National ID. The system retrieves and confirms their registration details before they proceed.
In the second step, applicants provide basic personal information. This includes membership type, gender, and date of birth.
The third stage requires aspirants to select the seat they want to contest.
Options include President, Governor, Senator, Woman Representative, Member of the National Assembly, and Member of the County Assembly.
The County Woman Representative to the National Assembly is available only to female members of the party.
Depending on the position, applicants must indicate the relevant county, constituency, and ward.
In the fourth step, applicants submit contact and location details.

This includes a phone number, an optional email address, and a selection of county, constituency and ward.

“In order to guarantee a credible process, we urge our Party members to continuously engage the National Elections Coordinating Committee (NECC) for any clarifications via email – [email protected]; Phone 0757242495,” read part of the notice by ODM.
ODM Faces Zoning Pressure Amid Broad-Based Government Shift
The announcement comes at a politically delicate moment for ODM as the party readies for a deal with President William Ruto under the broad-based government arrangement while preparing for the 2027 elections.
The opening of nominations signals that ODM will field candidates across the country despite growing concern within the party over UDA’s expansion into its traditional strongholds.
The exercise also brings into focus the zoning debate between the two parties, with some ODM leaders pushing for informal arrangements to protect the party’s influence in Nyanza, Coast, and parts of Western Kenya.
By opening applications early, ODM is moving to activate its grassroots structures, manage internal competition, and consolidate support as succession politics within the party continue to evolve around party leader Oburu Odinga.
