Hillary Clinton’s deposition related to the Epstein files was briefly halted after a top Republican, Lauren Boebert, leaked her photo to conservative-leaning media personality Benny Johnson.
The interruption occurred during Clinton’s closed-door deposition before the House Oversight Committee as part of its investigation into Jeffrey Epstein’s files. The session was meant to remain confidential, but an image was shared online, quickly drawing public attention.
House rules prohibit photography or the sharing of images during such proceedings. However, just minutes into the deposition, Boebert took a photo without authorization and sent it to Johnson.
Clinton, the former First Lady, had been scheduled to give a confidential deposition at her residence in Chappaqua, New York, following a push by the Republican-led panel.
While the session was being recorded with plans for its later public release, it was not intended to be broadcast live.

After receiving the image, Johnson posted it on X, claiming that Clinton wanted the deposition aired live. “This is insane. The deposition is being filmed. Hillary wanted it to be done live on TV. The entire deposition will be released soon. Rep. Boebert gave me permission to post a photo with credit,” Johnson wrote.
He later reacted to news that the proceedings had been temporarily halted following the photo leak, questioning the pause by asking whether Clinton was attempting to avoid answering questions related to Epstein.
“Hillary is trying to get out of answering questions about Epstein because of a pic?” Johnson asked.
Lauren Boebert and Johnson insisted no rules had been violated, with Boebert publicly defending the influencer and saying, “Benny did nothing wrong,” while urging that the deposition continue. The committee later resumed proceedings following the brief interruption
Once testimony resumed, Axios reported on 26th February that Hillary Clinton delivered her opening statement under oath, categorically denying any knowledge of Jeffrey Epstein’s criminal activities or any personal relationship with him.

She said she did not recall ever meeting Epstein, denied traveling on his private jet, and stated she had never visited his private island or other properties, issues that have drawn heightened scrutiny following the release of Epstein-related documents showing photos of various high-profile figures with him.
Her husband, Bill Clinton, is scheduled to testify on Friday as the committee continues examining his long-documented association with Epstein and Epstein’s late associate Ghislaine Maxwell. However, neither Hillary nor Bill Clinton has been accused of criminal wrongdoing in connection with Epstein’s sex trafficking crimes.
The deposition is a court-ordered release by the Department of Justice of all records related to Jeffrey Epstein under the Epstein Files Transparency Act, passed in November 2025.
The disclosures have drawn attention to several prominent figures named in the documents, including Donald Trump, Bill Clinton, Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates, Harvard economist and former Treasury Secretary Larry Summers, and Tesla CEO Elon Musk.
A report by NPR, later corroborated by multiple outlets, alleged that the Department of Justice removed hundreds of pages from the Epstein files that referenced Trump. Among the materials reportedly withheld were FBI interview notes involving two women whose statements included references to Trump during the period when he was a private citizen.
The interviews were conducted as part of federal investigations into Epstein and his associate, Ghislaine Maxwell.
