Unwanted Safaricom subscriptions have become a common frustration for many customers, leading to unexpected deductions of airtime and receiving irrelevant messages or notifications.

These subscriptions, ranging from Skiza tunes to premium SMS and news alerts, can be activated mistakenly or through deceptive links or pop-ups.

Others may have been useful at some point but are no longer relevant or desired. Whatever the case, they can be a nuisance and a waste of money.

To address this issue and regain control over their subscriptions, Safaricom users have access to quick and efficient methods to check and cancel these unwanted services.

One of the primary ways to manage active Safaricom subscriptions is through USSD codes.

Option 1: Using the USSD Code *456#

By dialing *456# on their phones, customers can navigate through a menu that allows them to select the category of subscriptions they want to review or unsubscribe from.

This method provides a straightforward way to monitor and cancel services like data bundles, SMS bundles, Skiza tunes, premium services, and games with ease.

To check your active Safaricom subscriptions using the USSD code *456#, follow these steps:

  • Dial *456# on your phone and press the call button.
  • You will see a menu with various options. Select option 9 (Stop) and press send.
  • You will see another menu with various categories of subscriptions, such as Data bundles, SMS bundles, Skiza, Premium Services and Games, etc.
  • Select the category you want to check, such as Data bundles, SMS bundles, Skiza, Premium Services & Games, etc.
  • You can select any of these subscriptions to view more details about them or unsubscribe.
  • You will receive a confirmation message that you have successfully unsubscribed from the service.

Option 2: Using the USSD Code *100#

Another option available to Safaricom customers is using the USSD code *100# to check and cancel active subscriptions.

By following simple steps like selecting “My Subscriptions” and then “Active Subscriptions,” users can access a detailed list of their current subscriptions, including data bundles, SMS bundles, and promotional messages.

This method offers a user-friendly approach to managing subscriptions directly from their Safaricom line.

  • You will see a list of all your active Safaricom subscriptions, such as Data Bundles, SMS Bundles, promotional messages, etc.
  • If there aren’t any services you are subscribed to, then you’re all good. But if there are, you can select any of these subscriptions from the menu and unsubscribe.

Option 3: Using the MySafaricom App to Cancel Subscriptions

Furthermore, the MySafaricom app presents a convenient platform for subscribers to handle their Safaricom account and services from their smartphones.

By downloading the app from the Apple App Store or Google Play Store and registering with their Safaricom number, users can easily navigate to the “Account” section and access their active subscriptions.

Within the app, customers can view different tabs for various subscription categories like SMS, Data, Premium Services, Skiza tunes, among others, enabling them to identify and cancel any unwanted services efficiently.

Here are the steps to follow:

  • Open the MySafaricom app on your phone.
  • Tap on “Account” at the bottom-right corner to access your active subscriptions.
  • Navigate to the “My Subscriptions” tab on the screen.
  • In the screen that follows, you will see different tabs for different categories of subscriptions, such as SMS, Data, Premium Services, Skiza, etc.
  • You can tap on any tab and check if you are subscribed to the service.
  • If you have an active subscription, you can cancel it from there.

These three methods offer ways to review and cancel unwanted Safaricom subscriptions. It’s important to note that Safaricom may update these procedures periodically.

Safeguarding Against Unwanted Safaricom Subscriptions

In conclusion, safeguarding against unwanted Safaricom subscriptions involves proactive management of one’s account and subscriptions.

By utilizing USSD codes, the MySafaricom app, and staying vigilant about subscribing only to necessary services, customers can avoid unnecessary deductions of airtime and ensure a clutter-free communication experience.

Regularly reviewing active subscriptions, reading terms and conditions carefully before subscribing, and avoiding suspicious links or pop-ups are essential practices in maintaining control over one’s Safaricom subscriptions.
