Harambee Stars defender Daniel Anyembe, once again showcased his prowess on the pitch for his club Viborg, as they secured a 3-1 victory against Hvidovre in the Super Liga on March 31.
The Kenyan international, who played a crucial role in helping Harambee Stars clinch the Four Nations title in Malawi, carried his excellent form back to his club side, contributing significantly to their triumph.
Anyembe was born and raised in Denmark, to a Kenyan father and a Danish mother and has represented his country of birth at Youth level.
The defender’s goal marked his fourth appearance for Viborg since returning from injury, which had sidelined him from October 2023 until March 2024.
Isak Jensen and Daniel Anyembe were particularly influential, with Anyembe confidently scoring his first goal for Viborg after a well-worked team move.
Daniel Francis Anyembe, born on 22 July 1998, is a professional footballer known for his role as a right-back with Danish Superliga side Viborg FF.
Although born in Denmark, he represents the Kenya national team, Harambee Stars.
His playing career began at Esbjerg’s academy in 2009 before promotion to the first team in the 2017/18.
He made his European debut in a 2-0 loss to Belarussian side Shakhtyor Soligorsk in a UEFA Europa League qualifying round.

Daniel Anyembe Former Esbjerg Player
Esbjerg fB announced on 20 September 2016 that they extended Anyembe’s contract until 2018. During this period, he primarily featured for their under-19 squad.
Anyembe marked his debut for Esbjerg on 8 November 2016 in a Danish Cup match against Middelfart, where Esbjerg won 1–0.
His Danish Superliga debut came on 4 December 2016 against Brondby IF, ending in a 1–1 draw.
In addition, he signed a three-year contract extension on 1 June 2017, tying him to the club until 2020.
For the 2017–18 season in the Danish 1st Division, Anyembe was promoted to the first-team squad.
He further signed a contract in August 2018, securing his stay with the club until 2022.
When Esbjerg was promoted back to the Danish Superliga, Anyembe’s role expanded, contributing to the team’s success, which included qualifying for European football by finishing third.

Harambee Stars’ Defender Football Debut
On 25 July 2019, Anyembe made his European debut in the UEFA Europa League’s second qualifying round against Belarusian club Shakhtyor Soligorsk, although Esbjerg lost 2–0.
Despite his significant contributions, Anyembe suffered a knee injury in January 2020, which sidelined him for the remainder of the season, coinciding with Esbjerg’s relegation to the 1st Division.
On 17 July 2021, Anyembe joined newly promoted Danish Superliga club Viborg on a deal until 30 June 2026.
The defender made his debut on 25 July in a 1–1 draw against defending champions Brondby, coming on as a substitute in the 78th minute for Frans Putros.
He made his debut at the Kenya National Team, Harambee Stars on 28 March 2023.
Anyembe missed Kenya’s last three international matches against Russia, Gabon, and Seychelles, and had made 11 league appearances before suffering his setback.
