DCI Gives Update on Man Captured Beating His Son in Viral Video

The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) has issued an urgent appeal for information on the whereabouts of Kenneth Otieno, who was seen in a video brutally beating his 8-year-old son.

The video, which sparked widespread outrage, prompted concerned citizens to come forward with information that enabled authorities to trace Otieno’s home.

In a statement on Friday evening, the DCI expressed gratitude to members of the public for their assistance.

“We wish to thank concerned members of the public who provided information on the identity of the man recorded on a video clip savagely beating his 8-year-old son, therefore enabling our officers to trace his home for purposes of effecting arrest,” the statement read.

Despite these efforts, Otieno managed to evade arrest.

According to the DCI, he disappeared with his young son in the early hours of the morning of June 21, just moments before detectives arrived at his residence in Nakuru.

“Unfortunately, getting wind that the police were hot on his trail, the man identified as Kenneth Otieno disappeared with the young boy in the wee hours of today morning,” the DCI reported.

The sudden disappearance has raised serious concerns about the safety of the child.

Authorities have intensified their search, but Otieno’s current location remains unknown.

“The suspect’s whereabouts are unknown, and the safety of the little boy may be at stake,” the DCI cautioned.

Public Appeal

In light of these developments, the DCI has issued a public appeal for any information that could assist in locating and rescuing the child.

“We appeal to anyone who has information that could assist in rescuing the kid to share with us by reporting at any police station or call our #FichuakwaDCI hotline 0800 722 203,” the DCI urged.

The video of the incident, which has been widely circulated on social media, has drawn condemnation from various quarters, with many calling for swift justice to ensure the safety and well-being of the child.

The DCI has assured the public that every effort is being made to apprehend Otieno and ensure the child’s safe return.
