Kenyans in several parts of the country should brace for chilly weather this week, with night-time temperatures expected to drop to as low as 4°C in some areas, according to the latest forecast by the Kenya Meteorological Department (KMD). In its seven-day weather outlook for the period between June 23 and June 29, 2026, Kenya Met said minimum temperatures of below 10°C are expected in parts of the Highlands East of the Rift Valley, the Central Rift Valley and areas around Mt. Kilimanjaro.
The coldest conditions are expected in Nyahururu, where temperatures could fall to 4°C, followed by Narok (6°C), Kericho (7°C) and Eldoret (8°C).
The weatherman noted that intermittent cool and cloudy conditions are also likely in parts of the Highlands East and West of the Rift Valley, the Southeastern Lowlands, the Rift Valley and North-eastern Kenya.
Despite the cold nights, daytime temperatures exceeding 30°C are expected in parts of the Coast, North-eastern, and North-western regions.

Rain Expected in Several Regions
The Kenya Met said rainfall is expected over the Highlands East and West of the Rift Valley, the Rift Valley, the Coast and parts of North-eastern Kenya.
The affected areas include Nandi, Kakamega, Vihiga, Bungoma, Siaya, Busia, Baringo, Nakuru, Trans Nzoia, Uasin Gishu, Elgeyo Marakwet, West Pokot, Kisii, Nyamira, as well as Kericho.
Other counties include Bomet, Kisumu, Homa Bay, Migori and Narok counties, as well as Nyandarua, Laikipia, Nyeri, Kirinyaga, Murang’a, Kiambu, Meru, Embu, Tharaka Nithi and Nairobi counties.
Rainfall is also expected in Marsabit, Mandera, Wajir, Garissa and Isiolo counties, and the Coast counties of Mombasa, Kilifi, Lamu and Kwale, including the Tana Delta.
In the Highlands West of the Rift Valley, the Lake Victoria Basin, and the Rift Valley, occasional morning rains are expected, with afternoon showers and thunderstorms likely over a few places and occasionally spreading to several areas.
Residents in the Highlands East of the Rift Valley, including Nairobi, Nyeri, Kiambu and Murang’a counties, should expect cloudy mornings with occasional rains over a few places before sunny intervals develop later in the day.
Afternoon and night showers are also expected in some areas.

Sunny Days, Isolated Showers Expected in North-eastern and Coastal Regions
In North-eastern Kenya, sunny intervals are expected during the day, with partly cloudy conditions at night and a chance of morning rains during the first half of the forecast period.
Meanwhile, the South-eastern lowlands, comprising Machakos, Kitui, Makueni, Kajiado and Taita-Taveta counties, are expected to experience cloudy mornings before giving way to sunny conditions, while nights will remain partly cloudy.
The Coast region, including Mombasa, Kilifi, Lamu and Kwale counties, is expected to experience sunny intervals during the day and partly cloudy conditions at night.
Morning and afternoon showers may occur in a few places during the first half of the forecast period.
