The Kenya Meteorological Department (KMD) has issued advisories to six sectors expected to be affected by the November 2025 weather conditions.
According to the forecast, above-average rainfall is expected over the Lake Victoria Basin, Highlands West of the Rift Valley, and parts of the Central and South Rift Valley.
While depressed rainfall is likely over the Highlands East of the Rift Valley (including Nairobi), the Southeastern lowlands, Coast, and Northeastern regions.
Temperatures are projected to remain warmer than usual across the nation.
“In support of the Government’s commitments to realize the vision of a climate-resilient country, KMD calls upon all citizens and stakeholders to utilize this climate information and advisories for planning and decision making,” read part of the advisory.
Six Key Sectors to Be Impacted in November Climate Outlook
In the Disaster Management sector, residents in flood-prone and hilly areas have been advised to remain vigilant due to the potential for localized floods, landslides, and lightning strikes, particularly in Kisii, Kisumu, and Narok counties.
The public has been cautioned against walking or driving through flooded areas and advised to avoid seeking shelter under trees or near metal structures during storms.
For the Water Resources sector, the department warns that the eastern and coastal regions are likely to experience depressed rainfall, which may not meet water needs.
Communities in these areas have been encouraged to harvest and store rainwater, use water efficiently, and prepare for potential shortages.
In the Agricultural sector, western Kenya is expected to experience sufficient soil moisture, which will support crop production, but may disrupt harvesting activities due to excessive rainfall.
Conversely, central, eastern, and coastal regions may face poor crop performance due to erratic rainfall. Farmers are advised to adopt water conservation measures, plant drought-tolerant crops, and apply moisture-retention techniques.

The Environment and Forestry sector is projected to benefit from favorable soil moisture conditions in the Lake Basin, Highlands West, and Central Rift Valley, which will enhance tree planting efforts.
In the Health sector, increased rainfall may lead to stagnant water accumulation, heightening the risk of malaria and other vector-borne diseases.
On the other hand, dry and dusty conditions in certain regions may lead to an increase in respiratory infections.
Citizens are urged to eliminate stagnant water, sleep under mosquito nets, and seek prompt medical attention if they become unwell.
Lastly, in the Transport and Infrastructure sector, slippery roads, flash floods, and reduced visibility may disrupt travel and logistics.
Motorists and pedestrians have been urged to remain cautious, avoid flooded routes, and plan for possible delays during heavy downpours.

November Weather Outlook
Near-average to above-average rainfall is expected to persist over counties in the Lake Victoria Basin, the Highlands West of the Rift Valley, and the Central and South Rift Valley.
However, below average or depressed rainfall is forecast in the Highlands East of the Rift Valley (including Nairobi), the Southeastern lowlands, the Coastal region, and most parts of the Northeast.
Rainfall distribution will remain uneven, with intermittent dry spells expected in several areas.
The Department further notes that temperatures will remain warmer than usual across the country. There is a possibility of localized flooding in the western region and prolonged dry spells in the eastern parts.
Counties in the Highlands West and East of the Rift Valley and the Lake Basin are advised to exercise caution, as moderate rainfall over already saturated soils could increase risks of flooding and landslides.
